SJI is working on one of our biggest design projects to date--Scholastic's 'The 39 Clues.' This groundbreaking new multi-platform property includes books, game cards, and a website where readers participate and compete for prizes.
The first step of the project was the logo, designed to appeal not only to young readers, but young gamers and collectors as well. The logo references the worldwide search for clues that ensues in 'Book One: The Maze of Bones.' SJI created this photorealistic-style book cover for the first of the 10-book series.
The Cahill family is central to the plot of 'The 39 Clues,' and a family crest system was developed that is key to the iconography of the property. The crests appear on each game card and are used throughout the website.
SJI is in the process of designing the game cards that are integral to the online game. Cards are included with each book and can also be purchased separately. Kids can register them at 'The 39 Clues' website, tracking their points and hunting down clues.
A "Clue Finder Guide" was also designed, which will be included in the game card booster packs.
SJI just completed the second book design, with more books and cards to come. 'The 39 Clues' is also headed to the big screen--DreamWorks Studios has already optioned the movie rights.
